Make Laptop Battery Live Longer

Several tips to make your laptop battery can Stand longer:

  • Turn off Wi-Fi and bluetooth. Use shortcut key to instantly disable wireless networking.
  • Don't play games on computer, music or DVD movies. Multimedia activities drain laptop batteries.
  • Disconnect all external device like card modems, firewire, USB devices and optical drives. Use notebook touchpad instead of an external mouse.
  • Adjust screen brightness, dimming your display saves battery power.
  • Tweek windows Power option. Choose laptop power scheme that turns off the notebook monitor and hard disk after 10 minutes inactive.
  • Decrease or mute laptop speaker volume
  • turn off all scheduled task
  • Turn off auto save features in Microsoft office and other applications
  • Turn off or dissable built-in wireless card

To make laptop battery can live longer, actually many factors affect the amount of time that a laptop battery can deliver can deliver power before it must be recharged.
  • If you don't use laptop for extended periods of time, i.e. for a week or more, remove the battery pack from laptop.
  • Don't put battery in high heat or freeze temperature. Don't put on your car in summer time. Hot battery can discharge very quickly, and cold ones can't create as much power.
  • Make sure to plug a laptop charger adapter into a UPS and not directly into a power outlet or surge protector.
  • If you have a nickel metal hydride battery, completely drain and recharge the battery once a month to maximize its capacity to hold a charge.
  • Fully charge new battery packs before use. New pack needs to be fully charged and discharged (cycled) a few times before it can condition to full capacity.
  • Leaving a battery in a laptop while using an electrical outlet for long periods of time will reduce the life cycle of the battery.
