This may often happen to your laptop computer, laptop battery charge drop very fast. If they are charged will fill and full very fast, then if we use the laptop just can stand for just 5 minutes. What happened on this laptop battery?
I have had my laptop for a year. I have it plugged in most of the time but generally let it completely cycle at least twice a week.
Now when I charge it to 100%, I unplug it and it instantly drops to around 70%. Does this mean that the battery is going bad?
If you have this similar problem like my own, its like the battery needs replacement. If you bought your laptop new, and it's only a "FEW" months old...that's way to early for the battery to be going bad. I'd try going to your laptop manufacturer's website and see if there's a recall on your specific battery. You'll need to take note of the battery's serial number so you can compare yours with any recall orders. Just to let you know, batteries aren't generally covered by the warranty unless it's deemed defective.
The problem actually will also happen to all laptop, but normally is not too fast. This can happen after your laptop age about 4 to 5 years, if you use your laptop and maintain in the right way. If you maintain in wrong way, your battery laptop will damage just in a few months. This indicate that your laptop battery has leakage so that they can’t keep the power anymore. See here about Battery Maintenance.
